After Duncan’s Laurence grand victory in Tel Aviv in the year 2019 with his song “Arcade”, Rotterdam was due to host the Contest in 2020 before the event was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The 65th contest will take place this year on 18, 20 & 22 May in the Ahoy arena in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The Semi-Finals will take place on 18 and 20 May 2021. The Grand Final takes place on 22 May 2021. "The stage will be carried over to next year, because that was already prepared. Apart from that, a lot depends on what is possible at that time, on the availability of all those involved and on what fits the spirit of 2021" said Sietse Bakker, Executive Producer of the show. It was confirmed that the theme for the 65th Eurovision Song Contest will remain the same – ‘Open Up’. In December 2020, the logo of Eurovision 2021 was revealed. The new design is inspired by the world map with Rotterdam as the beating heart of Europe in May 2021. “The logo connects Rotterdam with the capitals of the participating countries and symbolizes coming together, regardless of the form,” says Sietse Bakker, the Executive Producer of the event.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2021, in Rotterdam, will be hosted by:  Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Rombley, Jan Smit and Nikkie de Jager (NikkieTutorials). Chantal Janzen is a famous actress and presenter, Edsilia Rombley a presenter, singer and two-time Eurovision participant, Jan Smit is a successful singer, presenter and Eurovision commentator for the Netherlands and Nikkie (NikkieTutorials) is a professional hair & makeup artist and beauty guru and the biggest Dutch internet star of the moment. 39 countries will take part in the 65th Eurovision Song Contest 2021.  “The Eurovision Song Contest will definitely make its welcome return this May despite the pandemic but, in the prevailing circumstances, it is regrettably impossible to hold the event in the way we are used to,” said Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest. The organizers will now focus their efforts on a Scenario that would involve hosting a socially distanced event with artists performing in Rotterdam, while realistically keeping downscaling options on the table. .

Greece will be represented at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam by Stefania Liberakakis with the song "Last Dance". She will perform ‘Last Dance’ in the first half of the second Semi-Final on Thursday 20 May.The singer, Stefania, born in the Dutch city of Utrecht in 2002, is now only 19 years old. Stefania previously represented the Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 as part of the girl group “Kisses”.
