GLYSTERI Beach Bar–Skopelos Island Greece

On the north side of the island, very close to Skopelos Town, in a distance of about 6km, 15 minutes driving , there is a small (almost private) but great beach, Glysteri. On this idyllic beach, in a picturesque bay with crystal clear greenish-blue waters, pebbles and pine trees, operates (since June 2019) a new Beach Bar, the best on the island, GLYSTERI BEACH BAR!

In Glysteri Beach, until the beginning of the 60's there was a shipyard where the carpenters of the island worked on manufacturing handcrafted wooden parts of the ships and boats. For over 15 years the beach was not organized and there was only a small traditional tavern on it, but its enchanting natural beauty and its peculiarity attracted the producers and directors of the famous musical film Mamma Mia who have chosen Glysteri beach for shooting some of the movie’s scenes.

The owners of the beach bar, respecting the natural environment of the beach that belongs to the protected areas of the "Natura 2000" network developed this wonderful place by creating a "highly ecological construction" and in such a way that the whole project ties in perfectly with the authentic beauty of the landscape. The materials which were used come from all over the island: natural wood and wood from old shipbuilding, clay bricks, Pelion stones and pebbles from the sea, old treasure chests and dry palm leaves for the umbrellas...The owners went to great lengths to find different pieces of either driftwood or natural wood that was left there by previous owners. The sun beds made of wood and these, large and very comfortable, with thick mattresses and spaced apart, are suitable for complete relaxation, you will not find such in other beach bars on the island. They carefully placed them far enough from the sea, respecting those that prefer to just throw their towels on the pebbles instead. At Glysteri Beach Bar you can also enjoy light meals, pasta and some grilled meats, snacks and finger food, salads, pizzas, traditional pies of Skopelos, all types of coffee, ice creams, beers, cocktails and other cool beverages…In addition, their chef will do a 'dish of the day' where he will mainly concentrate on promoting authentic, home-made recipes. Everything is well-made and particularly tasty, with pure ingredients and organic products, proving the mastery of the chef and the great importance that owners give to the quality of even the food. The service is excellent and the staff is mostly a team of happy youngsters, with fresh, summer smiles on their faces always pleasant and well-mannered ready to serve and satisfy even the most demanding guests. Also, various music events are organized with well-known DJs and dancing parties that give vivacity and intensity to this otherwise calm and quiet beach of the island.
